Senator Marshall: My Plan Will Fix America's Healthcare Crisis

As the conversation around the nation's healthcare crisis intensified this week, I joined Fox News, Fox News Radio, Newsmax, MSNBC, KCTV, and Fox Business to walk through Republicans' plan to fix the problems created by failed and unaffordable ACA subsidies. We talked about how real transparency can finally put patients, not insurance companies, back in charge. We also dug into the bombshell GAO report detailing alarming levels of Obamacare fraud and what Congress must do to restore accountability.

Senator Marshall Applauds Federal Seizure of 73,000 Dangerous 7-OH Products in Kansas City

This week, I commended our federal partners at the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for their swift action to seize approximately 73,000 units of illegal and dangerous 7-OH products from three warehouse locations in the Kansas City region.

These products pose a serious threat to the health and safety of Americans, and despite repeated warnings, some companies continue to peddle these lethal substances. I've worked closely with the Administration to ban 7-OH products, and I will not stop pushing until every one of these items is off store shelves and out of our communities.

Senator Marshall Leads Letter for Federal Disaster Aid for Kansas Communities

Following several days of severe weather that caused significant damage across rural communities in north-central Kansas, I joined Senator Jerry Moran and Congressman Tracey Mann in urging President Trump to approve Kansas's request for a major disaster declaration.

In our letter to the President, we wrote:

"From September 8 to 10, a slow-moving storm system produced exceptionally heavy rainfall across north-central Kansas, resulting in widespread flash flooding, overland flow, and severe damage to public infrastructure. Rainfall totals in the affected counties ranged from 8.9 inches to more than 14 inches in less than 48 hours, overwhelming drainage systems, saturating soils, and sending fast-moving floodwaters through road networks, agricultural land, and populated areas.

"This damage has placed significant financial strain on Kansans and local governments as they work to recover. Damage assessments conducted jointly by the state and FEMA have determined that Kansas is eligible for approximately $3.5 million in federal assistance."

If approved, the counties of Lincoln, Ottawa, Ellsworth, and Saline would be eligible for federal assistance. Once the declaration is issued, local governments and public utilities may submit storm-related expenses to FEMA for reimbursement.

Senator Marshall Introduces Bill to Stop ACA Fraud

In response to a recent report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) revealing widespread fraud in the Affordable Care Act marketplace, confirming what we have known for years, I introduced the ACA Marketplace Integrity Act to finally crack down on abuse and restore accountability to the system. This legislation would require mandatory ID verification for enrollment, establish a minimum monthly payment to ensure only real, active enrollees are counted, and codify the Trump Administration's 2025 Marketplace Integrity and Affordability Final Rule.

The bill strengthens oversight by closing loopholes that have allowed "ghost enrollees," fake identities, and fraudulent subsidy claims to flourish. It also ensures that only eligible individuals receive subsidized coverage and that major insurance companies are no longer paid for nonexistent customers.

Senators Marshall & Blunt Rochester Introduce Legislation to Help Lower Prescription Drug Costs Through PBM Transparency

For too long, PBMs have operated behind closed doors, using hidden fees, spread pricing, and other tactics that drive up prescription drug costs while families and employers struggle to keep up. I joined Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester in introducing the PBM Disclosure Act, bipartisan legislation to bring long-overdue transparency to Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs).

Our bill requires PBMs and third-party administrators to disclose all direct and indirect compensation they receive, giving employers a clear picture of what they're paying for and exposing the predatory practices that distort the drug pricing system. By pulling back the curtain on these middlemen, we can help lower costs, increase transparency, and ensure patients, not PBMs, come first.

House Advances Senator Marshall Priorities to Strengthen Kansas Small Businesses

I was pleased to see two of my small business priorities pass the U.S. House with strong bipartisan support. The Investing in All of America Act will expand capital access for small businesses in rural and low-income areas, as well as those in manufacturing and critical technology — strengthening the proven SBIC program. The Small Business Regulatory Reduction Act will help entrepreneurs by preventing the SBA from imposing new regulatory burdens and by requiring an annual report on federal rules that drive up compliance costs for small businesses.

Small businesses power Kansas's economy, and these bills give them both the opportunity and the breathing room they need to grow. I'm proud to champion these efforts, and I look forward to advancing them in the Senate.

In addition, my Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act, which helps connect CTE graduates with workforce opportunities, passed the House earlier this year. I'm pushing to move all three measures through the Senate and onto President Trump's desk.

Senator Marshall Cosponsors Legislation to Enhance Officer Safety

Any attack on a police officer is an attack on the safety of every American community. I joined my Republican colleagues in cosponsoring the Back the Blue Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by Senator John Cornyn to enhance protections for law enforcement officers and provide them with the tools they need to stay safe on the job.

This bill increases penalties for those who target law enforcement, establishes new federal crimes for attacks on officers, and expands officers' ability to defend themselves while carrying out their duties. It also strengthens federal death penalty provisions, limits certain civil recoveries for criminals, and ensures that law enforcement is recognized as a specific aggravating factor in relevant prosecutions.

Our law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. The Back the Blue Act gives them the protections they deserve and ensures those who harm them face serious consequences.

Senator Marshall: Healthcare Price Transparency Will Save the American Family $12,000 Per Year

In line with our mission to solve healthcare affordability, I had the opportunity to question witnesses, including Joel White from the Council for Affordable Health Coverage, Marcie Strouse from Capitol Benefits Group, and Claudia Fegan, M.D. from Physicians for National Health Programs during the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing focused on empowering patients, expanding price transparency, and lowering health care costs for American families.

We discussed ways to put patients back in charge of their health care decisions by giving Americans upfront price information, expanding Health Savings Accounts, and supporting community health centers, in hopes of saving American families thousands of dollars.
