FBI Director Kash Patel says the bureau is investigating a large fraud scheme in Minnesota involving federal aid programs. He said the case may involve hundreds of millions of dollars and is a top priority for investigators.
Patel said FBI agents were already working on the case before it gained public attention online. He described the fraud as "just the tip of a huge iceberg," suggesting more wrongdoing could soon be uncovered.
The investigation builds on earlier cases in Minnesota, including fraud tied to food and childcare assistance programs during the pandemic. Officials say more arrests and charges are possible as the probe continues.
Authorities say they are focused on protecting taxpayer money and holding those responsible accountable.

According to court reporting, Minnesota Judge Sarah West vacated a $7 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 Medicaid fraud conviction — even though the jury verdict was 𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀.
The defendant, Abdifatah Yusuf, had been found guilty by a full jury in a major Medicaid fraud case — and then walked free after the conviction was thrown out.
Let that sink in.
This wasn't a hung jury.
This wasn't a mistrial.
This wasn't a technical split decision.
A unanimous jury convicted — and the case was still tossed.
Minnesota Democrats don't just 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱 while it's happening.
When it's 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 in court, they somehow manage to erase it.
This is why trust is collapsing.
This is why taxpayers are furious.
This is why fraud keeps spreading.
If a $7 million Medicaid fraud conviction backed by a unanimous jury can simply be wiped away, then the system isn't broken — it's being protected.
Accountability doesn't end at the verdict.
It starts there.
