He actually was in the training program in the mens department at Macy's. The position came up to be assistant manager of the dept. It was between Mace and the "nephew" of the Store Manager who according to Mace was beyond incompetent. Mace was sure he was going to get the job for certain. The "nephew" got the job which i think is why Mace broke my balls every step of the way because he hated nepotism. Anyway Mace went home that night and asked his Dad if he mighr learn the real estate business. His dad my gramps ran JI Kislak in New Jerseyand did mistly leasing for shopping centers, mostly strip centers which were fairly new back yhen.Mace worked there for 11 years before leaving to form MaceRich with Richard Cohen.
