The City of Topeka's majority council once again proved...THEY choose to not listen to the people, who ELECTED them. Mr. Earl McIntosh and MANY worked diligently to propose a petition for tax relief, just so YOU could find reasons WHY to not let it happen. Glad you all have comfy salaries and homes to go to everyday and not have to live in worry or fear!!!! I HOPE citizen's REMEMBER this when YOU ALL NEED SOMETHING ON A PUBLIC VOTE and the public REFUSES!!!
For anyone who watched the live or was there had to know what the council was going to do...it was DEAD IN THE WATER BEFORE IT GOT OUT THE GATE. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!! Thank you for another slap to the faces of the citizen's.
Always concerned about providing EVERYTHING in Spanish to their native language to the community. What about the low vision and blind citizen's? Is it provided in their preference (Braille, Large Print or Audio Tape)? What about the Deaf and Hard of Hearing)? And, let's not FORGET about the older citizen's, WHO don't have internet and CHOOSE to not want it to FIND ALL YOUR BUDGETS and etc. ONLINE!!! What about people maybe unable to AFFORD COX cable where your meetings are broadcast???? What about all the UNSHELTERD (YOU GET GOVERNMENT MONEY) and the homeless numbers are steadily increasing. CONTINUING TO BURDEN CITIZEN'S, WHO ARE STRUGGLING EVERYDAY, SO YOU CAN LIVE LAVISH AND MAKE POOR DECISIONS!!!! DO ANY OF YOU CARE ABOUT ANYBODY BUT YOURSELVES, YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND RICH BUDDIES????
It's quite apparent there is more ABUSE OF POWER, CORRUPTION, DISCRIMINATION, RETALIATION, CONFLICTS OF INTEREST, FAVORITISM, DIVISION OF COUNTY AND CITY, PICK AND CHOOSE, ETC. GOING ON EVERYDAY IN THIS STATE!!! No transparency...just smoke screen illusions. Were you "ELECTED" or were you "BOUGHT"?
I am appalled that the newly highered HIGH PRICED SALARIED City Manager requested an increase with property tax. Many are being removed from their home's, due to the MAJOR INCREASE in property taxes!!! Maybe due to loss of an income or spouse. People who rent are having difficulties as well. Fixed and low income DO NOT get to have their money increased to KEEP up with the RISING costs of EVERYTHING (food, gasoline, utilities, prescriptions, insurance and etc.) Topeka's minimum wage is $7.25 an hour and hasn't been increased in year's, but you people get your salaries increased EVERY YEAR!!!
Cut the FAT and start there, along with other UNNECESSARY spending. SUCH AS THE HOTEL!!! SUCH AS ALL THE CONSULTANTS!!! SUCH AS LAUREN'S BAY LAKE FIASCO!!! AND, DID STEPHEN WADE GET PAID HIS LAWSUIT AGAINST THE CITY? SECRETS, LIES
Mr. Paul Lassley has been another public speaker on several occasions bringing awareness of safety issue's regarding tree's at a mobile home park. Each time his word's were wanting help (in what the city council is SUPPOSE to do). Over and over, I listened to his word's and watched the member's of the council just sit (no dialogue). Well, what happened in April...a storm In which a trailer was split in two and his grandson almost injured while seeking shelter. I'm happy is grandson wasn't injured, but I'm sure he's terrified now. It could have been worse, but it also was AVOIDABLE IF YOU COUNCIL MEMBER'S ACTED MORE EXPEDITIOUSLY!!! DO BETTER COUNCIL MEMBER'S!!!!
Topeka is crumbling and you're all playing a huge role in that. The roads, bridges, buildings are way past care. Our safety is an issue with all the crime and apparently there's not many wanting to be in law enforcement (I can't blame them). The mentally ill are very challenged and vulnerable (that isn't on them either). There are not ENOUGH resources or quality staff to help in the way that needs to happen. Most of the mindset is DOPE them up on psychotropic medications and more often than not are huge long term side effects. Please educate yourselves on the Invega Sustena injection thats been used quite frequently at Valeo. Read the lawsuits, the box warnings, side effects, deaths and etc.
Keep your head's in the sand box and think it will all go away. That's what most do...if it's not in your family we don't care or have to. Very sad...
It's time for new and fresh people. To all that vote...remember you didn't matter and encourage your relative's, friend's, neighbor's to vote.
