GO Topeka responds to Henry McClure's discrimination claims

GO Topeka president Molly Howey said the organization follows a defined set of rules.

"Each incentive decision is guided by a clear and consistent set of criteria, including the project's economic impact, the number and quality of jobs created, and the wage levels offered," Howey said in a written statement. "Once these criteria are met, the proposed incentives are submitted to the GO Topeka Board of Directors for approval, and then to the JEDO governing body for final approval.

"These standards ensure that our investments are made without bias and deliver meaningful, long-term benefits for the people of Shawnee County."

Vote Henry McClure Mayor


In the November 2024 general election for the Shawnee County Commission District 2 seat, Henry McClure, a Republican, received 9,214 votes. He was defeated by the incumbent Democrat, Kevin Cook, who garnered 10,622 votes


Spencer Duncan's most recent election for Topeka City Council in 2023 saw him receive 1,341 votes. He defeated his opponent Chris Phelps, who received 340 votes, and won the District 8 seat with 79.3% of the total vote. This marked Duncan's second term in office, having initially been elected to the City Council in 2019.
