Hello, with the general election around the corner, I'm sending out my candidate questions for our election spread.
Below are six questions we'd like each candidate to answer. Your work count limit for each answer is 150 words and the deadline to turn in answers is October 3rd. 1. Despite the city tax rate remaining the same, property taxes continue to rise for residents. How do you intend to provide tax relief to Topekans?

2. create a sales tax on liquor to shift funds from property tax to fund a new project for recovery and mental health.

2. What actions will you take to improve Topeka's economic development?
Create a uniform development agreement for TIF and CID - no consultants and same rules for all - as long as you comply with state law = the government can';t change the deal - no lawyers for each deal
3. The city is in a multi-million-dollar deficit, how do you intend to rebalance the city budget?
We need to start selling assets and leasing back buildings. This puts real estate on the tax rolls.
4. Homelessness is an ongoing issue in Topeka. What efforts will you make to resolve this humanitarian issue?
Project Ottis will create a home base for the one stop shop, all social services. We will have a recovery team and mental health on staff. We can have temporary housing for the short term. - We need to have full-time efforts to have the private sector solve this issue
5. It has been discussed many times in city and county meetings that affordable housing is a large need in Topeka. How will you help bring in more affordable housing for Topeka residents?

Divert all funds earmarked for the Go Topeka and put them into the roads. Cancel the Go Topeka contract.
