K-TAG

Cashless tolling on the Kansas Turnpike will begin July 1 and DriveKS, Kansas' new toll payment system, will be introduced. At that time, KTAG accounts will be converted to DriveKS accounts. After conversion, you will be able to use your existing account credentials to log in to your new DriveKS account.

As an existing KTAG account holder, we want you to know what to expect with the change. While the entire agreement is new and it is important that you read it in its entirety, we want to provide some additional information about the cashless system, effective July 1.

DriveKS/One Account: DriveKS accounts support transponder- and image-based transactions on a single account. If a vehicle you own doesn't have a transponder or license plate on the account and travels on the turnpike, KTA will attempt to match its license plate registration information to an existing DriveKS account before creating a new account. If the registration information matches close enough to a DriveKS account, the transaction(s) will be posted to the account. One account means you could have transactions on the same account with different rates (transponder and image).

Toll Rates: There will be two cashless toll rates – transponder- and image-based. If a customer's transponder repeatedly fails to read and transactions are processed as image-based tolls, the customer will be notified and may be charged the image-based rate if the issue is not resolved.

Transponder and License Plate Relationship: New accounts will be established using a license plate with the option of adding a KTAG. A KTAG will not be issued without a license plate. Transponders must be used for compatibility on other Authorized Facilities. A KTAG and a license plate will have a one-to-one relationship to prevent the transponder rate being assigned to an image-based transaction, which costs more to process. This helps keep toll rates low for all customers.

Trips/Transactions: The Kansas Turnpike will begin using transactions rather than trips. Transactions will occur each time a customer drives under tolling equipment located above the roadway.

Billing: Personal accounts billing will be spread throughout the month (rather than the first day of month) based upon the account's origination day. If an account is past due and the customer continues to use the roadway, transactions will be posted at the image-based rate even if a transponder is detected in the vehicle.
